Principal’s Report
Athletics Carnival
Thankyou to all the parents and carers who came to our Athletics Carnival last Friday. Despite the need to change the way the day ran; we were very appreciative of your support. The wind certainly had a lot to answer for as you can see from the mess it made of at least 2 tents. Congratulations to all medal winners and Callistemon who were convincing winners on the day. Congratulations to all students who eagerly participated and encouraged their team members.
Week 9 Whole School Activities
On Tuesday the 26 March we celebrated Harmony week with activities to highlight the diversity of cultures at our school.
Then on Thursday 28 March we will hold our week 9 Assembly with an Easter Hat Parade. All students were encouraged to come dressed in a self-decorated hat to be parade at assembly.
Paper Planes Barbecues
On Wednesday 1 May from 5.00 – 6.30pm there will be a paper plane making activity in the undercover area for all children with their Fathers or Father figure. The event will be run by the Fathering Project who will also provide a barbecue. All participants will need to RSVP to the school office for catering numbers. Please see the advertisement in this newsletter for further information.
Mother Days Breakfast
Keep the following date in your diary – Friday the 10 May, 7.30 – 8.15am. Once again staff will prepare and provide our special Mother s Day Breakfast. Mothers and mother figures will be invited to attend and munch breakfast with the students before they start the school day at 8.25am. We hope to see you then.
End of term
This term has been very busy, especially the end, and now we are looking forward to 2 weeks of holiday bliss. Please remember that students start school again on the Monday, 15 April. I hope you all have a lovely break and keep safe.
Kind regards

Cygnets – 3 year old programme
Cygnets
Our 3-year-old Cygnets program commenced on Thursday 7th March this term. Cygnets is for children born between 1st July 2020 – 30th June 2021 who will enrol to come to our Kindy in 2025.
The sessions run 8:40-10:30am Thursday mornings at the Hub (Child Parent Centre Swan) in partnership with the school. Each week children participate in interactive activities around a story book and nursery rhyme and parents stay with their children.
Cygnets is a successful way to transition children to kindy.
Carnaby Crusaders
On Friday, 6 March, Dean McArthur from 'Carnaby Crusaders' installed an artificial black cockatoo nest in the nature play of TA6. Middle Swan PS is right on the edge of Carnaby Cockatoo breeding grounds and it was just brilliant seeing the kids getting involved with the conservatorship of the species and talking about their experiences with the endangered bird. Fingers crossed we have a nest by August.
We also spotted a galah family in another tree. Dean noted galahs 'ringbark' a ring around the tree to mark their territory and interrupt snakes and lizards climbing up the tree. Very cool stuff.

Message from Dental Therapy Clinic
Dental Health Services would like to advise that we are not affiliated with the Smile Patrol Program.
Dental Health Services is a government-funded service which provides free routine dental care for children aged 4 to 17 years of age, including treatment.
Smile Patrol, as per their website, is a private company based in Victoria, Australia. As always, you are free to choose which dental provider you and your child attend. Please keep in mind that for those who receive $1095 every two years through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, then these funds will be used to pay for your child’s treatment at Smile Patrol (as per the website). Should your child require further treatment at a private dentist or paediatric specialist, then you may need to pay out of pocket expenses.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact myself at Guildford Dental Therapy Centre, on 9279 5869.
Thank you and kind regards,
