Principal’s Report
Our School Vision - One team, one mission, striving to provide a safe and effective learning environment where every child is supported to reach their potential.
School Development Day
This Friday is the end of term three and every child and staff member have earned a well-deserved, rest for 2 weeks. Please note that students come back to school on Monday 7 October. Term Four’s school development day will be on Monday 4 November so that will be a long weekend for students.
Vac Swim
It is alarming that some children struggle to reach a reasonable level of water proficiency by the time they leave primary school. The recent swimming lessons for Year 3-6 saw many students make progress to the next stage, however swimming levels achieved tended to be low. We were pleased to offer Access All Areas vouchers to many families to ensure that most students attended lessons this term.
This year the government is offering free swimming lessons and entry in December and January. Don’t miss out this opportunity to ensure your child learns to swim; a ‘life saving’ skill.
Pre Primary to Year 3 students will have swimming lessons in weeks three and four next term. Please return permission forms and monies before Friday week 1 next term.
Aus Bike 1st Gear
AusBike 1st Gear | Monday sessions (4:30pm - 5:30pm)

1st Gear is perfect for kids new to riding or still on training wheels.
Dental Services
Recently the Child Parent Centre (CPC) has organised students from the Dental School of UWA to promote dental health in our school. As a result every child will be given a free dental package. The partnership between the CPC and the UWA Dental School will also provide screening services and possible free dental surgery if required, including transport to and from PCH. Middle Swan PS is very lucky to be part of this valuable partnership.
Preparing for Bush Fires
Every year the school prepares a plan in case of fire. That plan includes practising evacuation as a whole school which we do at least once a term. Please note the following points in the case of a genuine fire evacuation scenario.
Bushfire Season 2024 - 2025
Please keep in mind the following points if we need to evacuate to a safer place.
- Parents will be contacted via the school app or texted via SMS. Please ensure you have access to the school app tool and your details are correct at the front office.
- Parents are not to ring the school at the time of evacuation. Phone lines are kept free for emergency services and staff will be busy moving children off site.
- Parents are not to collect students during an evacuation procedure
Have a wonderful spring holiday from all of us at Middle Swan Primary School.
Kind regards
